If you've got a spare ten minutes and the right ingredients, why not try your hand at this easy chocolate truffle recipe to make a delicious dessert? These truffles also make a great gift, simply wrapped up in a bag & tied with ribbon, for any chocaholic. They make a fabulous dessert for any occasion or dinner party.
If you're wondering about the calories, then this is one occasion when less is more. If you use the best quality chocolate, just eating one truffle slowly will be sufficiently indulgent and filling - more so than a sugar-filled treat.
Once you've shaped the truffles, roll in finely chopped nuts or other dark sprinkles to finish them.

A Ganache recipe, without the butter, is shown below. This is perfect to use as a cake frosting, instead of icing, you can also use it for the filling. It'd make a delicious topping for a chocolate torte too.
As it's so easy to make, and so delectable, don't expect anything you make with it to last too long, it'll get eaten by the devouring hordes pretty quickly.
Don't be put off by the name, it's easy to make a ganache (pronounced ganash) !
This is now suitable for a cake topping or frosting, instead of your usual icing. It's also a great way to top cupcakes, before decorating.
